Programma

Lake Tovel is an environmental gem of Trentino, cherished both by locals and by numerous visitors. At the same time, the lake is also a Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site, where the Edmund Mach Foundation has been conducting environmental research since 1995.

On 20 and 27 August 2025, researcher Ulrike Obertegger (FEM) invites all interested participants to join an educational walk around the lake. Along the way, environmental concepts, research activities, and curiosities about the lake and its surrounding ecosystem will be shared. A unique opportunity to discover an area of outstanding natural value for Trentino and for the entire Alpine region!

Now in its third edition, the event is organized by the Edmund Mach Foundation in collaboration with the Italian Long-Term Ecological Research Network (LTER-Italy) – a network of terrestrial, freshwater, transitional, and marine sites where long-term ecological research is carried out – and the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, under the patronage of the Municipality of Ville d’Anaunia.

The event will take place in all weather conditions. The walk will start at 10:30 am from the Lake Tovel parking area and will last approximately three hours.

Important: trekking shoes are recommended, as well as rain and sun protection and something to drink.

Registration: please send an email to ulrike.obertegger@fmach.it to confirm participation and to ensure a manageable group size (maximum 30 participants).
