The FEM study on the effects of Storm Vaia on the Alpine mammal community won the third prize for best poster at the XIV Italian Congress of Theriology, held in Bolzano last June 3-5. The research, conducted through camera trapping in the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park by researchers and technologists from the Applied Ecology Unit, analyzed the medium-term impact of this climate event on vertebrate communities.
This research was carried out thanks to the contribution of the European project BEPREP, the BioAlpEC project (funded by the PNRR), and the collaboration with the University of Parma and the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park. Special thanks to the National Alpine Hunters Union (UNCZA) for the equipment provided.
