The new report "Il permafrost in Trentino" (Permafrost in Trentino) has been published, offering an up-to-date overview of the health status and climate change resilience of high-altitude frozen ground and rock glaciers across the region's mountain ranges.
The multi-year monitoring across key mountain groups—including Adamello-Presanella, Ortles-Cevedale, Dolomites, and Lagorai—was carried out by a dedicated scientific network featuring the Fondazione Edmund Mach (through the Hydrobiology Group at the Research and Innovation Centre), together with the Geological Service of the Autonomous Province of Trento (PAT) and the Universities of Padua and Pavia.
The full report, which includes detailed data and analyses covering 150 km² of monitored area and the stability of high-altitude water reserves, is freely available for consultation and download on the PAT Geological Service portal.
