We are offering 22 PhD Scholarships in the fields of Agriculture, Climate Change, Computational &amp, Systems Biology, Environment, Food and Nutrition– First Stage Researcher (R1).The Research and Innovation Centre at the Fondazione Edmund Mach (CRI-FEM) is a major international research institution with strong and expanding research interests in Fruit Genomics, Quality Health and Nutrition of Agricultural Products, Agro-ecosystems Sustainability, Biodiversity and Molecular Ecology. Moreover, CRI-FEM hosts a Centre for Computational Biology and Fox-Lab, an international initiative in forest and wood research. CRI-FEM is located in Trentino, at the foot of the Alps, one of the most spectacular and sought after locations in northern Italy.

FIRS&gt,T the PhD Research School established at CRI-FEM in 2012 offers a unique research opportunity to outstanding international graduates. Selected candidates will choose between projects in basic and applied research, operate in an international working environment (90 students, 31 countries, multi-cultural research groups), and access to state-of-the-art technologies. The extensive network of international collaborations encourages student mobility and provides them with opportunities to develop their research at top international laboratories.The ScholarshipThe successful candidates will receive a stipend of 20.000 Euro per year (before tax), up to 10.000 Euro/year toward travel expenses associated with visiting partner institutions, and coverage of University registration fees. The duration is 3 years, with the possibility of extending it for a further 12 months.ApplicationsTalented and motivated candidates who have, or are expecting to obtain a Master or equivalent degree in a field relevant to the research undertaken within CRI-FEM, are invited to submit their application on-line (from April 24 to May 24). Applicants are invited to indicate preferred research projects from the available projects list Each project has been developed as a collaboration between CRI-FEM and a partner institution and at least one year of the PhD scholarship will be spent at the partner institute. The official working language is English. Short-listed candidates will be informed by mid-June 2013 and will be invited for a personal/Skype interview. Fellowships can start as early as summer 2013.
