Considering recent studies convincingly showing the important contribution of the intestinal microbiome to human health and disease risk, this project will investigate how certain foods may modulate both the composition and activity of the human gut microbiota. Moreover, the study aims to design specific “functional foods” with tailored activity to stimulate the metabolic activity of beneficial microorganisms within the human microbiome.The post holder will provide molecular microbiological support for studies examining the ability of whole plant foods or their derivatives, certain dairy products and probiotics, to modulate the composition and activity of the human gut microbiota.Please read the position details to understand if you are eligible for the position.
